Words and Vision

I think this is feed in sense 3b in the OED: An allowance or meal (of corn, oats, etc.) given to a horse, etc.

  1. I assumed that sort of feed was the more mechanical:

    5.

    a. The action or process of ‘feeding’ a machine, or supplying material to be operated upon.

    b. The material supplied; also the amount supplied; the ‘charge’ of a gun.
