I came across something last week during a meeting with people from China, India, Mexico, and Florida. We all grunted the same way. I could communicate with everyone: Yes, no, questionable, maybe, (a few others,) and satisfaction without words. It made me wonder if there was a pre-word language we all hold onto deeply,
or if it was a basis for the beginning of spoken words.

Or...it could be a coincidence brough on by the tequila.
Steve in FloridaSTEVE HASTnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2629301231907528990.post-28057382446217227742023-11-24T04:11:36.369+00:002023-11-24T04:11:36.369+00:00Almost the end of 2023 and I am similarly educated...Almost the end of 2023 and I am similarly educated! The plaintiff, Charles Lambert, who is the same plaintiff ("id.") as in the previous entries in the list, complained that the defendant Claudius Buster said that the words in question were true of Lambert. Now of course there is no reason why an insult has to even be possible: if I tell you that you have your head up your ass, the fact that you can't physically do that does not affect whether the insult is defamatory — it is. "In open vestry" means during a public meeting of a local town government; "vestry" normally means a parish meeting, but in England and the Older Colonies, vestries had both civil and ecclesiastical functions.John Cowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03866951247699187535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2629301231907528990.post-58593732534809855352022-12-21T05:55:33.953+00:002022-12-21T05:55:33.953+00:00And Dec of 2022 comes along and here I am too.... ...And Dec of 2022 comes along and here I am too....
