I was relieved to read the Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable definition of Glory-HoleA small room, cupboard or the like, where all sorts of odds and ends and junk are dumped.
The OED says that a glory hole can also be a sailor's cabin, or a glass-blower's kiln. I really wouldn't check the Urban Dictionary' s definition unless you have a mind inured to all depravity.
This shows approximately the same lewd development as peep show and felch.

ReplyDeleteThe most innocuous word you can think of seems ripe for lewd redefinition on that site. Useful at times I suppose! I was amused that a colleague at work directed me there when I was searching for a definition of a technical term. What a joker.
